Erie County is home to Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie, a National Natural Landmark, nestled between the shores of Lake Erie and beautiful Presque Isle Bay that welcomes 4 million visitors each year. Open year-round and free to the public, Presque Isle offers swimming, surfing, hiking, biking, rollerblading, boating, kayaking, surreys, ice-kiting, cross-country skiing, canoeing, birding, and fishing. Awarded "Pennsylvania's #1 Attraction for 2017" and the “#1 Freshwater Beach in the Country 2016” designation by USA Today Reader’s Choice, Presque Isle is Erie’s largest outdoor playground proving that there is just something very special about Erie County. The 587-acre Erie Bluffs State Park lies along the Lake Erie shoreline in western Erie County, twelve miles west of the city of Erie.
