The idea for a workforce marketing initiative, a precursor to Choose Erie, was developed with assistance from members of U.E. Local 506, the workers who build locomotives locally for Wabtec. The leadership team recognized that manufacturers from across the country were busy trying to attract Erie’s highly-skilled workers, but Erie workers wanted to stay in Erie—a hometown with affordable housing and natural amenities.
