The Erie Otters, our Major junior ice hockey team, are members of the Midwest division of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one of the only three American teams in the circuit. A family night watching the Erie Seawolves at UMPC Park, currently undergoing a $12 million renovation, is always packed.
Erie Commodores FC is the only soccer club in Erie with a comprehensive player development pathway that starts with community outreach and league programs, encompasses junior development and travel teams, and culminates with NPSL Senior Men’s and the addition of a new women’s team. It is their mission to unite soccer in Erie through providing players of all economic backgrounds the opportunity to play soccer, develop and progress to a higher level.
If the major league teams are more your speed, you are in driving distance to three cities with proud sports traditions. Bills/Sabres? Steelers/Pirates/Penguins? Browns/Cavaliers/Indians? Erie County is home to super fans from across all three markets working side by side (unless it is playoff season, then all bets are off).
Erie also has a thriving high school and college sports scene. The Friday Night Lights are bright throughout Erie County, and the community comes out in force to support these young athletes.
